Season Overview
The Argentina national team, managed by Marcelo Bielsa from 1998 to 2004, experienced a mixed period during these years. At the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan, Argentina was eliminated in the group stage, finishing third in Group F. In 2004, Argentina reached the final of the Copa América in Peru, where they finished as runners-up. Later that year, the national team, also under Bielsa's guidance, secured the gold medal at the Men's Olympic Football Tournament in Athens.
Key Players
This era featured a squad of notable talents in Argentine football. Key players included Gabriel Batistuta, Juan Sebastián Verón, Javier Zanetti, Ariel Ortega, and Hernán Crespo, who were part of the 2002 World Cup squad.
