Season Overview
During the 2007-2009 period, the Austria national football team automatically qualified for UEFA Euro 2008 as co-hosts with Switzerland, marking their first appearance in the UEFA European Championship. Under coach Josef Hickersberger, Austria competed in Group B of Euro 2008, where they were eliminated in the group stage after drawing with Poland and experiencing defeats against Croatia and Germany. The team also commenced their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign during this time, competing in Group 7.

Notable players for Austria during these seasons included goalkeeper Alex Manninger, defenders Martin Stranzl and Emanuel Pogatetz, and midfielder and captain Andreas Ivanschitz. Strikers Roland Linz and Marc Janko were also key figures for the national side.
