The 1995-97 period was a tale of two hugely successful, but different, seasons for Bayern Munich. In 1995-96, managed by Otto Rehhagel and then Franz Beckenbauer, the club finished second in the Bundesliga but memorably lifted the UEFA Cup. Under new manager Giovanni Trapattoni, they went one better in the 1996-97 campaign, winning the Bundesliga title.
