The 2006-07 season saw Bayern Munich compete in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League. The club finished fourth in the Bundesliga with 60 points, securing qualification for the 2007-08 UEFA Cup. Felix Magath began the season as manager but was replaced by Ottmar Hitzfeld on January 31, 2007, due to disappointing domestic results. In the DFB-Pokal, Bayern were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a 4-2 loss to Alemannia Aachen. Their Champions League campaign saw them top Group B before eliminating Real Madrid in the Round of 16 on away goals, a tie highlighted by Roy Makaay's record 10.12-second goal. Bayern's European journey concluded in the quarter-finals with a 4-2 aggregate defeat to AC Milan.
