Season Overview
The 1995-1996 season marked Bolton Wanderers' first-ever campaign in the FA Premier League, following their promotion from the First Division. Managed initially by Roy McFarland and then by Colin Todd from January, the club finished 20th and was relegated. The subsequent 1996-1997 season saw Bolton return to the First Division under Colin Todd, where they achieved promotion back to the Premier League by finishing as champions. This period also marked the club's final season at their historic home, Burnden Park.
Key Players
During these seasons, notable players for the Trotters included prolific forward John McGinlay, who was the top goalscorer in both campaigns. He was joined by key figures such as Nathan Blake, Alan Thompson, Gudni Bergsson, and goalkeeper Keith Branagan.
