Season Overview
Under legendary manager Giovanni Trapattoni, the 1990-91 season was a story of European triumph for Inter Milan. While they finished a strong third in Serie A, level on points with rivals AC Milan, the season's defining moment was winning the UEFA Cup. The club secured its first major European trophy since 1965 by defeating fellow Italian side Roma 2-1 on aggregate in the final.
Key Players
The squad was famously built around the German trio of Lothar Matthäus, Andreas Brehme, and Jürgen Klinsmann. Matthäus, the reigning Ballon d'Or winner, was the team's top scorer with 16 league goals. They were supported by a core of Italian legends including goalkeeper Walter Zenga and iconic defender Giuseppe Bergomi.
