Season Overview
The 1992-94 period for Inter Milan was one of sharp contrasts. Under manager Osvaldo Bagnoli, the 1992-93 season saw a major resurgence as the team finished second in Serie A behind rivals AC Milan. However, the following 1993-94 season was dramatically different; despite winning the UEFA Cup, the club struggled domestically, finishing 13th in the league and narrowly avoiding relegation. Bagnoli was replaced by Giampiero Marini mid-season who guided them to their European success.
Key Players
This era featured a blend of Italian stalwarts and international talent. Key figures included goalkeeper Walter Zenga and captain Giuseppe Bergomi. Uruguayan forward Rubén Sosa was a vital goalscorer in both seasons, while the 1993-94 season saw the arrival of Dutch duo Dennis Bergkamp and Wim Jonk. Other notable players during this time were Nicola Berti, Igor Shalimov, and Salvatore Schillaci.
