Season Overview
Kashiwa Reysol competed in the J.League during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. In 1997, the club finished 7th in the J.League, reaching the Quarterfinals of both the J.League Cup and the Emperor's Cup under manager Nicanor. For the 1998 season, Akira Nishino took over as manager, and Kashiwa Reysol finished 8th in the J.League. They reached the 4th Round of the Emperor's Cup and participated in the Group League stage of the J.League Cup.
Key Players
Notable players for Kashiwa Reysol during this era included Brazilian striker Edílson, who was the top goalscorer in 1997. Bulgarian international Hristo Stoichkov joined the squad in 1998, bringing significant experience. Bentinho was the team's top goalscorer in 1998. Japanese talents such as Nozomu Kato and Tomokazu Myojin were also key figures in the squad.
