Season Overview
Under manager Gérard Houllier, Liverpool experienced mixed fortunes across the 2001-03 seasons. The 2001-02 campaign saw the Reds finish second in the Premier League and win both the UEFA Super Cup and FA Charity Shield. They also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The 2002-03 season, however, saw Liverpool finish fifth in the Premier League, though they secured silverware by winning the League Cup. They also reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after exiting the Champions League group stage.
