An absolutely iconic and audacious away shirt from Middlesbrough's unforgettable 1996-97 season. This Errea classic, with its distinctive white, blue, and red colourway and prominent Cellnet sponsor, was worn during a truly rollercoaster year. The bold design features the club crest woven into the fabric, making it a standout piece for any serious collector.
This is a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of Premier League history.
Season Overview
The 1996-97 season was one of the most dramatic in Middlesbrough's history. Managed by Bryan Robson, the team reached the final of both the FA Cup and the League Cup, unfortunately losing both. Despite these incredible cup runs, a controversial three-point deduction for postponing a fixture ultimately led to their relegation from the Premier League, finishing in 19th place.
Key Players
The squad was packed with international stars and flair players. Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli made a huge impact, scoring 31 goals in all competitions, while Brazilian magician Juninho was voted the Premier League Player of the Season. They were joined by fellow Brazilian Emerson, creating a memorable and exciting midfield trio.
