Season Overview
The Nigeria national football team experienced a busy period between 2008 and 2010, participating in major continental and global tournaments. In 2008, the Super Eagles reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Under the management of Shaibu Amodu for much of this period, Nigeria successfully qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Before the World Cup, they secured a third-place finish at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. Lars Lagerbäck then took charge for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where the team exited at the group stage.
