Season Overview
The 1996-1998 period saw Mick McCarthy take over as manager of the Republic of Ireland national team in February 1996, following Jack Charlton's departure. Under McCarthy, Ireland embarked on their qualification campaign for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. They finished second in their qualification group, earning a play-off spot against Belgium in late 1997, but ultimately did not qualify for the tournament.
Key Players
During this era, the Republic of Ireland squad featured a blend of experienced players and emerging talent. Key figures included goalkeeper Shay Given, defenders Denis Irwin and Steve Staunton, midfielders Roy Keane and Andy Townsend, and forwards Tony Cascarino and Niall Quinn.
This is a pre-owned authentic vintage item. All kits sold at The Kit Dealer are carefully verified by our in-house authentication team, washed, and treated - unless clearly listed as brand new with tags.
