Description

Season Overview

Under manager Andy Roxburgh, this era saw Scotland qualify for their first-ever UEFA European Championship in 1992. At Euro '92 in Sweden, they were eliminated in the group stage after losses to the Netherlands and Germany, but secured a memorable 3-0 victory over the CIS. The team subsequently failed to qualify for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, finishing fourth in their qualification group behind Italy, Switzerland, and Portugal.

This period featured a squad of established talents, led by captain Richard Gough. Key players included goalkeeper Andy Goram, midfielders Paul McStay, Gary McAllister, and Stuart McCall, and forwards Ally McCoist and Brian McClair.
