Season Overview
The 2002-03 season saw Scotland compete in the UEFA Euro 2004 qualifiers under manager Berti Vogts, who was appointed in January 2002. Scotland finished second in Group 5, four points behind Germany, securing a play-off spot. They faced the Netherlands in the play-offs, winning the first leg 1-0, but ultimately lost 6-0 in the second leg, failing to qualify for the tournament.

Manager Berti Vogts introduced many new players, including emerging talents like James McFadden and Darren Fletcher. Key players in the squad during this period included Barry Ferguson, Christian Dailly, Paul Lambert, Neil McCann, and Kenny Miller, all of whom contributed goals in the Euro 2004 qualifying campaign.
