Season Overview
During the 2003-05 period, Scotland competed under managers Berti Vogts, Tommy Burns (caretaker), and Walter Smith. In the UEFA Euro 2004 qualifiers, Scotland finished second in their group, four points behind Germany, progressing to the play-offs. They won the first leg against the Netherlands 1-0 at home but were eliminated after a 6-1 aggregate loss. For the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Scotland finished third in Group 5 with 13 points, behind Italy and Norway.
