In 2003, the Spain national football team, managed by Iñaki Sáez, was actively involved in the UEFA Euro 2004 qualifying campaign. Spain finished second in their qualifying group, Group 6, behind Greece. They subsequently secured their place in the Euro 2004 finals by winning a play-off tie against Norway.
