Season Overview
The 2012-13 season marked the inaugural year for Western Sydney Wanderers FC, who immediately made an impact by winning the A-League Premiers' Plate in their debut season under manager Tony Popovic. They also reached the A-League Grand Final, finishing as runners-up. In the 2013-14 season, the club continued its strong performance, finishing second in the A-League regular season and making their debut in the AFC Champions League. The Wanderers again reached the A-League Grand Final.
Key Players
Key players during this period included Japanese international Shinji Ono, who was the club's International Marquee player. Forward Mark Bridge was a consistent goal threat, while goalkeeper Ante Čović provided a strong presence between the posts. Midfielder Aaron Mooy and attacker Youssouf Hersi were also influential figures for the club in these formative seasons.
