Season Overview
The 2002-2003 season was a transitional period for the national football team, which began as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FR Yugoslavia) before officially being renamed Serbia and Montenegro in February 2003. Under manager Dejan Savićević for much of this period, the team competed in the UEFA Euro 2004 qualifiers. They were part of Group 9, facing teams such as Italy, Wales, Finland, and Azerbaijan, but ultimately did not qualify for the tournament.
Key Players
Notable players in the squad during this era included prolific forwards Predrag Mijatović and Savo Milošević. They were joined by talents such as Mateja Kežman, Dejan Stanković, and Siniša Mihajlović, who contributed to the team's efforts in the Euro 2004 qualifying campaign.
