Season Overview
The 2009–10 season was a historic campaign for Olympique de Marseille, with the club ending a 17-year wait for a Ligue 1 title. Under manager Didier Deschamps, Marseille secured the championship ahead of rivals Lyon and Bordeaux, while also winning the Coupe de la Ligue after defeating Bordeaux in the final. In European competition, Marseille competed in the UEFA Champions League but were unable to progress beyond the group stage.

Key players that season included prolific striker Mamadou Niang, midfield maestro Lucho González, influential midfielder Benoît Cheyrou, and captain Gabriel Heinze. The squad also featured important contributions from Stéphane Mbia, Souleymane Diawara, and goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, who helped guide Marseille to a memorable domestic double.
