Season Overview
Under manager Mano Menezes, Brazil entered the 2011 Copa América in Argentina as one of the favourites. After topping their group, their tournament run came to a surprising end in the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by Paraguay on penalties after a 0-0 draw. Brazil famously missed all four of their spot-kicks in the shootout.
Key Players
The 2011 squad was a blend of established stars and emerging talent. Key figures included Inter Milan's Júlio César in goal, with a defence led by Lúcio and Thiago Silva. The team was packed with attacking firepower, featuring Robinho, Alexandre Pato, and a young Neymar, who was still playing for Santos at the time.
