Season Overview
Under the management of Gordon Strachan, Celtic finished second in the Scottish Premier League in the 2008-09 season, just four points behind rivals Rangers. The team had a successful run in the domestic cups, winning the Scottish League Cup by defeating Rangers 2-0 in the final. Their Scottish Cup campaign ended in the quarter-finals, and in the UEFA Champions League, they were eliminated at the group stage.

The squad featured a strong lineup including captain Stephen McManus, midfielders Scott Brown and Shunsuke Nakamura, and forwards Scott McDonald and Georgios Samaras. Scott McDonald finished the season as the team's top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions.
