Season Overview

Under manager José Pékerman, Colombia returned to the World Cup in 2014 for the first time in 16 years. They delivered their best-ever performance, winning all their group games before defeating Uruguay in the Round of 16. Their exciting run ended in the quarter-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to the host nation, Brazil.

Key Players

The 2014 squad was a golden generation, even without the injured Radamel Falcao. James Rodríguez was the breakout star, winning the tournament's Golden Boot with six goals. Other key figures included winger Juan Cuadrado, midfielder Fredy Guarín, and the veteran captain and defender Mario Yepes.
