Season Overview
The 1998-99 season was a challenging one for Empoli in Serie A, resulting in an 18th-place finish and subsequent relegation to Serie B. The club saw managerial changes during the campaign, with Mauro Sandreani being replaced by Corrado Orrico. In the Coppa Italia, their journey concluded in the second round against Atalanta.
