Season Overview
The 1998 season was the pinnacle of French football, as the nation hosted and won its first-ever FIFA World Cup. Under the management of Aimé Jacquet, Les Bleus navigated a tough tournament, conceding only two goals before defeating defending champions Brazil 3-0 in a memorable final at the Stade de France. This historic victory united the country and marked a golden generation of French football.
Key Players
The squad was captained by Didier Deschamps and featured the genius of Zinedine Zidane, who scored two goals in the final. The formidable defence included legends like Lilian Thuram, Marcel Desailly, and Laurent Blanc, while the midfield was powered by talents such as Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira. The attack was spearheaded by players including Thierry Henry and Youri Djorkaeff.
