Season Overview

The 2012-2013 season saw a significant change for the France national football team as Didier Deschamps was appointed manager on 8 July 2012, succeeding Laurent Blanc. France had reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2012, where they were defeated by eventual champions Spain. Under Deschamps, the team commenced their qualification campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, competing in UEFA Group I and finishing second in their group, which led to a play-off berth.

Key Players

Notable players for France during this period included goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, forward Karim Benzema, influential winger Franck Ribéry, and defender Patrice Evra. Midfielders Yohan Cabaye and Blaise Matuidi were also key figures, with Paul Pogba beginning to establish himself in the squad.
