Season Overview
The 1998-99 season was a period of significant transition for Liverpool, marked by a unique joint-management setup between Roy Evans and Gérard Houllier. Evans resigned in November, leaving Houllier in sole charge of the team. The club finished 7th in the Premier League and was eliminated in the fourth round of both the FA Cup and the League Cup. In Europe, Liverpool's UEFA Cup campaign ended in the third round.
Key Players
Michael Owen finished the season as the club's top scorer with 23 goals in all competitions. The squad also featured established players like Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, and Paul Ince, alongside a young Jamie Carragher. The team was managed by Roy Evans and Gérard Houllier.
