Season Overview
During the 1984-85 season, Manchester United, managed by Ron Atkinson, finished fourth in the First Division and secured the FA Cup, defeating Everton in the final. They also reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. The following 1985-86 season saw United start with an impressive ten consecutive league wins and an unbeaten run of 15 games, ultimately finishing fourth in the First Division. The club was unable to compete in European competitions due to the ban on English clubs following the Heysel disaster.
