Season Overview

Under the management of Ricardo Gomes, the 1996-97 season saw Paris Saint-Germain mount a strong domestic and European campaign. They finished 2nd in the French Division 1 and were runners-up in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, narrowly losing the final 1-0 to Barcelona. The team also reached the Round of 16 in the Coupe de France.
