Under the management of Philippe Bergeroo, Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed a successful 1999-2000 season, finishing second in Division 1. They also reached the final of the Coupe de la Ligue, narrowly missing out on the trophy. This strong league performance secured their qualification for the following season's UEFA Champions League.
