Season Overview
The 2008-2010 period saw the South Korea national team, managed by Huh Jung-moo, achieve significant success, including an impressive 27-game unbeaten run between 2008 and 2009. The Taeguk Warriors successfully qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, navigating the fourth round of qualification undefeated with four wins and four draws. At the 2010 FIFA World Cup, South Korea advanced to the Round of 16, marking their first progression past the group stage in a World Cup held outside of their home nation.
Key Players
Key players during this era included captain Park Ji-sung, known for his high work rate, and prolific forward Park Chu-young. Midfield talents Lee Chung-yong and Ki Sung-yueng were also central to the squad's performances. Veteran goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae provided a strong presence between the posts, while Lee Young-pyo was a highly experienced defender.
