Spain competed in the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament in France as the two-time defending champions. Under manager Vicente del Bosque, they finished as Group D runners-up after winning their first two matches. Spain was ultimately eliminated in the Round of 16, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Italy.
