Season Overview
During the 2001-02 season, under manager Gianluca Vialli, Watford finished 14th in the First Division. The following season, 2002-03, saw Ray Lewington take charge as the club finished 13th and made a memorable run to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Throughout this two-year period, the Watford squad featured key players such as forward Tommy Smith, who was the top goalscorer in the 2001-02 season, and Icelandic striker Heiðar Helguson, who top-scored the following year.
