Description

Season Overview

The 2004-05 season was a difficult one for Atalanta, as they returned to Serie A only to be relegated after finishing in 20th place. Despite a poor start to the campaign, the team showed some fight under a new manager who arrived mid-season. A notable highlight was their performance in the Coppa Italia, where they successfully navigated the group stage and reached the quarter-finals. Ultimately, a 1-0 defeat to Roma in the second to last match of the season confirmed their return to Serie B.

Key Players

The team saw the emergence of young talents like playmaker Riccardo Montolivo and striker Stephen Makinwa, who finished as the team's top league goalscorer with six goals. The squad also featured experienced players such as Demetrio Albertini and Giampaolo Pazzini. Andrea Mandorlini began the season as manager but was replaced by Delio Rossi in December 2004.
