Season Overview
The 1991-93 period was one of significant transition for Bayern Munich. The 1991-92 season was particularly difficult, with the club finishing in 10th place in the Bundesliga, its worst result since the 1977-78 season. The team saw three different managers at the helm: Jupp Heynckes, Søren Lerby, and Erich Ribbeck. The following 1992-93 season, under Erich Ribbeck for the full campaign, saw a dramatic improvement as Bayern finished as runners-up in the Bundesliga, just one point behind champions Werder Bremen.
Key Players
Key figures during this era included goalkeeper Raimond Aumann, defenders Thomas Helmer and Oliver Kreuzer, and midfielders Stefan Effenberg and Olaf Thon. The attack was often led by Roland Wohlfarth, the top scorer in the 1991-92 season, and Bruno Labbadia. The 1992-93 season saw the arrival of influential players like Lothar Matthäus and Mehmet Scholl.
