Season Overview

Managed by Gianluca Vialli, the 1999-2000 season saw Chelsea secure a 5th place finish in the Premier League and win the FA Cup, defeating Aston Villa 1-0 in the final. The following 2000-01 season, Vialli was replaced by Claudio Ranieri, who guided the team to a 6th place league finish and qualification for the UEFA Cup. That season also began with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Charity Shield.
