Description

Season Overview

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) national football team participated in the UEFA European Championship 1992 in Sweden, having qualified as the Soviet Union before its dissolution. Managed by Anatoliy Byshovets, the team finished last in Group B (Group 2) with two draws and one loss, failing to advance past the group stage. They secured draws against Germany and the Netherlands before a 3-0 loss to Scotland in their final match.

Key Players

The squad, coached by Anatoliy Byshovets, featured players from across the former Soviet republics. Key contributors included goalkeeper Dmitri Kharine, defenders Andrei Chernyshov and Oleh Kuznetsov, and midfielder Igor Dobrovolski, who scored the team's only goal from a penalty against Germany. Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko captained the side, with Andrei Kanchelskis and Sergei Kiryakov also part of the squad.
