Season Overview

The 1996-97 season is legendary in Schalke's history, defined by their triumphant UEFA Cup victory over Inter Milan. Under manager Huub Stevens, who took over from Jörg Berger early in the season, the team secured the club's first major European trophy. Despite the continental success, they finished a disappointing 12th in the Bundesliga.
