Under manager Berti Vogts, this era for Germany was a mix of disappointment and ultimate triumph. At the 1994 World Cup in the USA, the reigning champions were surprisingly eliminated in the quarter-finals by Bulgaria. However, the team rebounded to win the 1996 UEFA European Championship in England, securing their third title with a golden goal victory over the Czech Republic in the final.

The squad was captained by Jürgen Klinsmann, with stalwarts like Lothar Matthäus, Jürgen Kohler, and Thomas Häßler providing a strong foundation.
