Under manager Bert van Marwijk, the Netherlands reached the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, where they were defeated 1-0 by Spain after extra time. The team then participated in UEFA Euro 2012, where they were eliminated in the group stage, finishing fourth in Group B behind Germany, Portugal, and Denmark.
