Season Overview
The 2002-2004 period saw the South Africa national football team compete in significant tournaments, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan and the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations. At the 2002 World Cup, under coach Jomo Sono, South Africa was eliminated in the group stage, finishing third in their group. In 2004, with April Phumo as coach, the team participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, where they also exited at the group stage.
