Season Overview
The 2004-06 period began with a disappointing group stage exit at UEFA Euro 2004, where the team failed to register a single win. A year later, as hosts of the 2005 Confederations Cup, Germany showed signs of a resurgence by finishing in third place. This momentum carried into the 2006 FIFA World Cup, also on home soil, where an exciting young team captured the nation's support by reaching the semi-finals and ultimately securing a third-place finish after a memorable run.
Key Players
This era was managed first by Rudi Völler, who was succeeded by Jürgen Klinsmann in 2004. The team was captained by the influential midfielder Michael Ballack, who wore the number 13 shirt.
