Season Overview
Paris Saint-Germain competed in Division 1 during the 2000-01 season, finishing in 9th place. The club was managed by Philippe Bergeroo until December 2000, when Luis Fernández took over. In European competition, PSG reached the second group stage of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished bottom of their group. They also participated in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue, exiting both in the Round of 32.
Key Players
Nicolas Anelka, wearing number 9, was a key player for Paris Saint-Germain this season, having returned to the club in July 2000. He was the team's second-highest league goalscorer. Other players included Laurent Robert, who was the top goalscorer, and Jay-Jay Okocha. The shirt sponsor for the season was Opel.
