Season Overview
The 2011-12 season was the culmination of an unprecedented era of dominance for the Spanish national team. La Roja successfully defended their European Championship title at Euro 2012, becoming the first team to win three consecutive major international tournaments. They memorably defeated Italy 4-0 in the final, the largest margin of victory in the history of the tournament's final match. Throughout the knockout stages of the competition, Spain did not concede a single goal.
Key Players
Under the management of Vicente del Bosque, the squad was built around a core of iconic players. This golden generation included Iker Casillas in goal, with a defence often featuring Sergio Ramos and Gerard Piqué. The midfield was famously controlled by the likes of Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, and Sergio Busquets, while forwards included David Silva, Cesc Fàbregas and Fernando Torres, whose number 9 this shirt carries; Torres scored in the final and won the tournament's Golden Boot.
