Season Overview
Ajax finished the 2006-2007 Eredivisie season in second place. Under manager Henk ten Cate, the club won the KNVB Cup, defeating AZ in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. In European competitions, Ajax was eliminated in the UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round by FC Copenhagen and reached the Round of 32 in the UEFA Cup. They also won the Johan Cruyff Shield.
Key Players
The squad featured players such as striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who was the top goalscorer with 35 goals across all competitions, and midfielder Wesley Sneijder. Other players included Ryan Babel and defender John Heitinga. The shirts were manufactured by Adidas and sponsored by ABN AMRO throughout the season.
