Season Overview
The 2003-04 season saw Bayern Munich compete under manager Ottmar Hitzfeld as they looked to defend their Bundesliga crown. The club finished second in the Bundesliga, narrowly missing out on a third consecutive league title, while also reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Bayern were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in the early rounds but remained one of Germany’s strongest sides, featuring a squad packed with experienced international talent.

Key players that season included legendary goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, influential midfielder Michael Ballack, Brazilian playmaker Zé Roberto, and prolific striker Roy Makaay, who finished as the club’s top scorer. Other important figures included captain Jens Jeremies, defender Sammy Kuffour, and winger Hasan Salihamidžić, who all played key roles throughout the campaign.
