Description

Season Overview

The 2017 season marked Cerezo Osaka's return to the J1 League, their 17th overall, following promotion from the J2 League in 2016. Under manager Yoon Jong-hwan, it proved to be the most successful season in the club's history to date. Cerezo Osaka finished 3rd in the J1 League and secured their first major domestic trophies by winning both the J.League Cup and the Emperor's Cup.

Key Players

Key players for Cerezo Osaka during this memorable season included captain Hotaru Yamaguchi in midfield, forward Yoichiro Kakitani, and goal scorers Kenyu Sugimoto and Souza, who both found the net in the J.League Cup final. Midfielder Kota Mizunuma and Kazuya Yamamura were also instrumental, with both scoring in the Emperor's Cup final.
