Season Overview
The 2009-10 season was the first in the club's history to see them win the Premier League and FA Cup double. The team secured the league title on the final day of the season with an 8-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, finishing one point ahead of Manchester United. It was a record-breaking campaign for goalscoring, as the club became the first in the Premier League era to score over 100 goals, finishing with a total of 103. In the FA Cup final, a 1-0 victory over Portsmouth at Wembley sealed the historic double. The club also won the Community Shield at the start of the season, but were knocked out of the Champions League in the Round of 16.
Key Players
Managed by Carlo Ancelotti in his first season, the team was captained by John Terry. Didier Drogba won the Premier League Golden Boot with 29 goals, supported by key players including Frank Lampard, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda, and Michael Ballack. The defence was marshalled by Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, Ashley Cole, and goalkeeper Petr Čech.
