Season Overview
The Japan national team competed in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil under manager Alberto Zaccheroni. They were eliminated in the group stage, finishing at the bottom of Group C after failing to secure a win. Following the tournament, Zaccheroni resigned, and Javier Aguirre was appointed as the new head coach in July 2014.
Key Players
Key players for Japan during this period included attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda and creative midfielder Shinji Kagawa. Adidas supplied the kits, having been the official Japan National Team Kit Supplier since 1999. Some versions of the 2014-2015 home jersey also featured the JAL Japan Airlines logo on the left sleeve as a team sponsor.
