Season Overview
The 2004-06 period marked a dramatic and successful era for the club under new manager Rafael Benítez. In the 2004-05 season, despite finishing fifth in the Premier League, Liverpool famously won their fifth European Cup. They overcame AC Milan in the Champions League final in a remarkable comeback, winning on penalties after trailing 3-0 at half-time. The following season, 2005-06, saw the team win the UEFA Super Cup and the FA Cup, defeating West Ham United in the final, again on penalties. The club secured a third-place finish in the Premier League during the 2005-06 campaign.

Managed by Rafael Benítez, this era was defined by the leadership of captain Steven Gerrard, who was the top scorer in the 2005-06 season. The squad also featured key players such as defenders Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypiä. Midfielders Xabi Alonso and Luis García were influential figures, particularly in the Champions League success.
