Season Overview
The 2005-06 season saw Manchester United secure a second-place finish in the Premier League. The club's major success came in the League Cup, where they defeated Wigan Athletic 4-0 in the final to lift the trophy. In the FA Cup, their journey ended in the Fifth Round. The European campaign was less successful, with the team exiting the UEFA Champions League at the group stage.
Key Players
Under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, the squad featured a blend of experience and emerging talent. Key figures included top goalscorer Ruud van Nistelrooy, alongside a young Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. The season also marked the departure of long-serving captain Roy Keane, with Gary Neville taking over the role.
